Water distribution system

The water distribution system is a part of the water supply. In this, we deliver treated water to our consumers.
for industrial commercial residential, and firefighting purposes. It has three methods and four
distribution networks.

Good water distribution system:-

1)This requires a lot of water pressure as the water has to reach full cities.
2)Proper water should be available for fire demand.
3)Drainage pipe and sewage should be separate in the distribution system.
4)There should be no leakage in any way in the distribution system.

LAYOUT OF DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM
i) Dead-end system
¡¡) Gread from the system
¡¡¡) Ring System
iv) Radial System

1) Dead-end system :

There are four types of pipes in a dead-end system. First main pipe Second branch pipe Third
subdomains. Except where the branch pipe leaves the main pipe, the cut-off valve is used to control the water distribution. This system has a single main pipe from which the entire system is run. Dead end system is an old system used in old villages where there is no pattern road.

Advantages:

1. A water distribution can easily.
2. Cut falls are very less in this system
3. Small pipes are used in this system.

Disadvantages :

1. This system cannot be easily repaired as the main pipe has to be completely closed if the branch gets
obstructed.
2. Due to many dead ends, stagnation of water occurs in pipes.

2) Gread from the system :

There are also four types of parts in the Great Air system. Main Pipe Branch Pipe Sub Main
Pipe and Cut Of. In this system, the main pipe and branch pipe are connected. This system is
mostly used in new cities.

WATER DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM

Advantages:

1. Water flow is continuous in this system.
2. If any one of the pipes in this system needs to be repaired, the rest of the system can continue to
function
3. Can provide high-pressure water for fire demand

Disadvantages :

1. This system requires longer pipes.
2. This system is very costly.
3) The design of this system is very complicated.

3)Ring System :

Ring System

There are four components in this system. This system is also called a circular system. This system is in
rectangular shapes system is used in new settings and tones.

Advantages:

1. Water can be supplied to any point from at least two directions.

4) Radial System

This system has a main point from which water distribution is done. In this system, the area to be sent is
distributed. Water distribution can cover a large area. A reserve wire is set to the main point of this
system. In this system, water is kept in a high-level reservoir, and water supply is done from there.

WATER DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM

Advantages:

1. Can repair easily.
2. Pipes are less used in this method

Methods of water distribution system :

1) Gravity method
2) Pumping method
3) Combined gravity and pumping method

1) Gravity method :

– In a gravitational system, water flows under gravity.
– This method can be used when the water source is at a higher level than the distribution area.

WATER DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM

Advantages:-

1) This system is very simple and economical
2) No pump is required in this system.
3) This system does not require much maintenance.
4) In this system there is very less leakage.

Disadvantages:-

1) A breakup pressure tank is required to reduce the water pressure in this system.
2) In this system we cannot supply water with high pressure.

2) Pumping system :

– In the pumping system, we supply water with a pump to our distribution area.
– This system requires electricity.
– we can supply more water in less time.

Advantages :

1) Can maintain pressure as desired.
2) More water is available for firefighting.

Disadvantages :

1) This system has sufficient water requirements.
2) This system is not economical.
3 ) Leakage and wastage are high in this system.

3) combined gravity and pumping system :

– In the combined system we first pump the water and store it in the elevated tank.
-After that we supply the stored water to the distribution area with gravity force.

Advantages :

1) With this system we can do property water distribution.
2) We can use the water stored in the elevated tank for the file demand.
3) Water distribution remains constant in this systematic.
